I could only skim through this parade of horrors, but thank you for shining a light on the medical scandal of the century. Democrats should have hell to pay for colluding with this madness.

James Roberts's avatar

I thought I made it a long way through, but I think it was only about a third. What a horror show.

Lisa Simeone's avatar

Obscene from start to finish. Criminal. Horrifying. Mengele-level abuse.

I have restacked the hell out of this, Ben.

But the Democratic Party is only doubling down on this insanity. I am so furious I could spit. I won't vote in the coming election. For the first time in my life, 50 years of voting, I refuse to vote. I sure as hell won't vote for the fascist MAGA party that is trying to destroy this country, but I also won't vote for any Democrats, because so far, they're all aboard the trans train.

Lisa: "I am so furious I could spit."

👍 Amen to that, although it probably qualifies as a classic understatement. ICYMI, my recent open letter to Canada's Pravda West, the CBC, over their rather "biased" coverage of the Tumbler Ridge tragedy:

Loved this line:

'I wonder how CBC would have handled a claim that Jesse “began transitioning to a penguin” and “identified publicly as Jesus Christ and Napoleon – combined”'

Bravo!

Well done on the CBC letter 👏.

Many thanks. 🙂

Fascism is very much a creature of a certain time and place and not really something Americans could be even if they wanted, but whatever.

At some point, Herbert Walker Bush and that nice young man Paul Ryan can't or won't save you from the bolsheviks, and that's when even office workers and grandmothers start throwing up Roman salutes.

Lisa Simeone's avatar

WTF?

I’m not a fan of any of the Bushes nor of Paul Ryan. And “bolsheviks”?? Seriously?? That shit went out of style ages ago.

I know what fascism is. I don’t need a history lesson. Plenty of other people, though, do.

The Anti-Gnostic's avatar

Call the liberals what you will. I call them bolsheviks because they are levelers and ultimately want their opponents dead or in camps. The fact is the liberal ratchet only moves one way and after a point the moderates are no help.

Lisa Simeone's avatar

Well, I’m a lifelong liberal and I’m not killing anybody or putting them in camps. You know who is, though? ICE is. Trump is. Stephen Miller is. Rabid rightwingers are. So don’t give me this baloney about only the leftwing commits violence. What a crock. I criticize the left relentlessly when they do wrong. That doesn’t mean I’m blind to the crimes the rightwing commits. History is full of both, as you should know.

The Anti-Gnostic's avatar

The only concentration camps where you can simply repatriate back to your home country since, after all, you either overstayed your visa or do not have one. That's actually not entirely accurate. Many of the detainees have pending criminal charges.

Lisa Simeone's avatar

Yes, of course, silly me: there is One And Only One Kind Of Concentration Camp™!

That's what I've done for most if not all of my voting life. Not doing it anymore.

This surgeon is also performing “nonbinary nullification” surgeries— removing all genitals and leaving a smooth Barbie bottom with a tiny hole to pee— truly barbaric. These practices ought to be condemned. Instead, the British Journal of Medical Ethics is using trans butchery to defend Islamic female genital mutilation practices. Truly horrific.

Anna's avatar

So they justify it all by referring to themselves as “queer” and members of the “community” — which apparently means gay men with pink hair? Men who were allowed to go through puberty and have orgasms and experience sexuality as adults.

The horror is real.

Private Intellectual's avatar

This reminded me of "The Island of Dr. Moreau" by H.G. Wells, an early sci-fi tale about a mad doctor who experimented with ethics and human life...

Dancing With the Black Madonna's avatar

Fantastic point. I love Wells and Moreau is one of his more chilling works, especially his return to London and his changed view of humanity. I need to think more on this, thank you.

Jack Robertson's avatar

Thank God for gay male writers with the clarity of perspective and courage not only to not look away from this macabre pantomime, but also to write so clearly and bluntly about what is going on.

It is horrific, an anti-Hippocratic catastrophe. I don’t think I’ve ever heard or seen more virulent, casual homophobic hatred and harm than as expressed by these two ‘progressive’ ‘medical professional’ creeps.

It is a brutal Child Poisoning & Mutilation Experiment-Cult.

The Ob/Gyn Power Project's avatar

Jesus, Ben. Even I am shocked. When I first heard of this guy, I thought -- wait -- I'M a queer surgeon! It's not that unusual. I just, you know, do normal surgery stuff instead of whatever THIS is. I don't make it my whole online brand or whatever. Can I tell you something that is particularly annoying as a literal queer surgeon? When he talks about his "queer" identity - "Being able to show up to clinic with, like, pink hair and jeans and a T-shirt, and no one is questioning my professionalism or competency to do surgery." WTF does refusing to dress professionally have to do with being "queer"? I dress nicely at work, or at least wear scrubs, because it shows respect to the patients. Patients WANT to see a professionally dressed surgeon -- it helps them to have confidence in their doctor when they are likely scared. Is the goal here to show up in clinic and have your patients think you're cool or something? I get the sense that it is. Now THAT's a road straight to hell. It's like having your parenting goals to be besties with your kids... "I'm a cool doctor, not like all those other lame-o doctors." yikes

Jenna's avatar

As someone also under the “queer” umbrella, I hate how LGBTQ culture has taken on such a juvenile air. There used to be fun, camp, and eccentricity but also dignity and sometimes somber seriousness. These spaces now either feel overtaken by kink or just completely childish.

We used to be a proper country.

Queer flair is the equivalent of ecclesiastical vestments. It signals enlightened authority. My elementary aged daughter had an interaction with a queer presenting medical assistant recently, asking "are you a girl or a boy?". "I'm just a person", they replied through their mask (I'm using "they" since I genuinely couldn't tell). So "wise". Ugh. All I see is a pathological level of anxiety about biological reality. You're a man or a woman. Get over yourself.

Jack Robertson's avatar

Great comment. Keep speaking up, as LOUD as you can! Champion your Hippocratic Oath, especially to fellow queer medical professionals. Thank you.

When this came out I posted that it would be a gold mine for civil lawyers. He admits they don’t know what they are doing especially when it comes to kids. Someday someone will sue this ghoulish piece of…into professional oblivion. And use this video to rip him a new one in cross examination.

Kim C McClung's avatar

"Rip him a new one" takes on an entirely new meaning in the context of the horrors described here.

Kathleen Lowrey's avatar

The Democrats leaving the room: it really is amazing. If the video were introduced as "here are two AMAZING queer medical practitioners discussing cutting-edge care" they'd all be clapping and high fiving. But just introduce it in a non-reverential way and it's offensive and unlistenable and they walk out.

I don't even know what to compare it to.

Excellent article.

Melissa Liv's avatar

Absolutely not true of most Dems. It's only a fringe. I do hope the electeds finally figure that out, but the hardcore trans advocate ecosystem is loud.

Brigid LaSage's avatar

It is every single elected Dem, not a fringe at all! The Party leaders are up to their necks in this scandal. True that most Dem voters are more varied, but the true trans believers are still in control.

"I do say, I think we’re a little bit different geographically in Portland and on the west coast, where I feel like we just have a lot more sort of nonbinary, queerness, fluid identities, versus places like New York, [which] seem to be very binary.”

So, I guess West Coast people are just naturally more fluid because they're on the West Coast. Maybe it's the Pacific Ocean.

Nothing to do with being surrounded by other fluid people and thinking, hey, I'm fluid too!

New Yorkers are famous for being uptight and conservative. We're just too puritanical to be truly queer.

Roy Stone's avatar

After reading this nightmare of an article the Portland snobbery made me spit my coffee out laughing so that was nice.

This strikes me as cosmetic surgery. I came out of the closet in 1997, and never in a million years did I think this would be allowed for teenagers.

Strikes you as cosmetic surgery? That is all this is, grafted onto a meta-physical construct that insists the self is not the body but only the voice we talk to ourselves in.

Anna's avatar

Cosmetic surgery that obliterates all sexual function for kids who inhabit imaginary worlds.

Notes from the Under Dog L.'s avatar

Excellent expose of this madness, expressed through the mouth of a narcissistic sociopathic primary source. I've been privy to many bits and pieces of the types who practice this monstrous "care" and they are, bar none, SOCIOPATHS. Heck. Let's go all the way: PSYCHOPATHS.

Lines like 'how dysphoric X feels' and 'wants a canal' -- this is catering to the lowest denominator, enabling people to obsess over appearances in the most futile way because...

No matter what these mad doctors do "for" them -- they still look like their biological sex, but with creepy embellishments.

I ran into one on a zoom call the other day, with the "he/him" pronouns to reinforce that "Tom" was "Tom" although anyone could see that Tom was not Tom, but Tina.

And the ravaging this does not just to the body, but to the family. I never have been able to wrap my brain around why anyone -- anyone -- would defend this practice. And I never will.

While reading I was thinking of the guy who unfriended me recently, who transed his son when he was just eight years old. I never directly let on what I think of this, even though he was always scolding me for having the "wrong" opinions. In a recent correspondence he confided that his "daughter" -- now about 20 -- will have to get bottom surgery because of the puberty blockers. I know what that means. He has the penis of a child. Imagine doing that to your own child before they're even old enough to have all their adult teeth.

Anyway, excellent piece. I hope Shape is doing all right. I was watching Shape's videos a few years ago; so much tragedy.

AuntieK's avatar

Horrific! How are all these surgeries being paid for? I suspect Medicaid and private insurance that are mandated by individual States(?) to cover this “life-saving care?”

it's definitely optimizing pleasure for some WPATH members. Delight in the sexually motivated slicing up of children's bodies is a real thing, unfortunately.
